Day 43

First of all, thank you so much for making Open House so successful! We had 10 out of 12 families represented. I know that your children had fun showing you around. Some families stayed for over an hour getting the complete tour :-)

We began our day with a pumpkin art project made with craft sticks.

We continued our morning at our gathering place for calendar, place value, and coin. And then we read and reread a new poem--I Know a Creepy House.

During our rotations the First Graders worked on Super Sentences and some students even shopped for books.

Tyler found something good in the "returned book box." :-)
After recess, we revisited Ally the Alligator and compared numbers to make the correct number sentence, i.e. 87 is great than 64.

Students were introduced to a new Word Work activity--Word Wall Sentences. These activities are packaged individuallyby week and the students put the sentences together looking closely at the punctuation and capitalization.

We finished the day with a reading from the new Dr. Seuss book--Officer Pat Saves the Whole Word.

Day 44 is on its way!
