Day 42

We started the day with our calendar, place value, and coin. Then we moved on to the letter /Pp/. How many words can you think of that begins like pumpkin or palace?

Next, we reviewed some of our Daily 5 words -- trust, responsible, stamina, independent, and expanding vocabulary.

We than had 3 successful rotations where 2 of the First Graders worked on 2-digit regrouping and a Kindergartener worked on beginning word sounds and penmanship. During some of the other rotations students Read to Self, did Math Work activities, and Word Work activities.

We finished Alice's Adventures in Wonderland today and tomorrow we will start Zorgamazoo by Robert Paul Weston.

Zorgamazoo is one of Weston's wonderfully and imaginative, all-rhyming stories about a little girl, Katrina Katrell, who is filled with courage (and style! Just check out her red cowboy boots). One day, she meets Mortimer Yorgle and her life is changed forever.

Finally, after recess, the students made Word Wall Word sentences. To make it more fun, all of the sentences needed to contain the word spider.

Tomorrow is Day 43!
