Farewell

I have to say goodbye to you all, since I will not be returning to the classroom.

In June of this year; I was diagnosed with cancer. I have been undergoing tests and radiation therapy for most of the summer.

I will miss the students and teaching.

Memorial Day, 2015

Thank you to all who have made
the ultimate sacrifice for the USA.

Day 165 - 168

Today, we continued test prep.

Day 164

On Monday, May 11, 2015 we begin Standardized Testing!

This week we begin practicing good testing skills.

I begin to practice using my monotone testing voices to read questions to students.

And parents should be practicing getting students to school before 0830.

We began our day with our weekly 100-chart. The students followed instructions and made a walrus.

To celebrate the walrus, we watched I Am The Walrus by The Beatles, circa 1967.

Then we completed Calendar and Spiral Math.

During rotations, the first graders did some reading comprehension test prep.

Be back here tomorrow for Day 165!

Day 162

The day of the Shakespeare play is always a little strange. The students are usually a excited and antsy. With that in mind, we got to rotations right off the bat.

Before lunch Anthony presented his story, for this week, to the class.

Day 161

We began our day making up for my absence yesterday. We started with Making Words.

And we finished with the word keyboard.

We continued with Calendar Math and Spiral Math.

Day 159

We began our day with a quilt-like 100-chart.

We celebrated Izabella's birthday and she told us all about the party she had over the weekend.

First Graders began the rotations with outlining some ideas for this week's writing assignment.

Also during the rotations...

We will be here tomorrow on Day 160!

Day 157

We began the day with Calendar and Spiral Math.

During rotations, the first graders continued to work on their circus stories that were due today. Anthony wrote his final draft.

Anthony completed his and presented his At The Circus story to the class before lunch.

He also got the opportunity to read his story to Miss Osberg's class.

During rotations, kindergarteners did writing also.

It was a busy day for busy writers. See you on Friday, Day 158.

Day 156

We began our day with something new.

We completed an addition table drill. This really kept the students on their toes :-)

During rotations, the first graders worked on writing.

And the kindergarteners worked on Math and Reading.

Thursday is Day 157.

Day 155

We began Tuesday with Making Words. Our final word was friends.

We then completed Calendar and Spiral Math.

During rotations Anthony worked on his writing assignment.

While the kindergarteners read to me.

And Nathan finished his fourth reading book!

Day 156 is next!
