Sharing /W/

Destiny and Hunter were chosen to take the Letter of the Week containers home this week.

They will fill the container with something special to share with the class on Friday. We can't wait to see what they bring :-)

How Many Words Begin with /W/?

The students had a much easier time with /W/ than with /K/, last week. They came up with 73 words ranging from we to windshield.

Hats off to....

We have a new kindergarten reader!

Anthony H. completed the first level of Word Wall Words and started to read! He was thrilled to read one-on-one with me and he received a brag tag to commemorate the occasion!

In addition, Anthony H. finished the addition section on XtraMath. He completed each basic addition problem in 3 seconds or less.

Great Job, Anthony H.!

Our Crop

We had just enough pods and beans to share around the classroom. The students eagerly ate our crop.

Sharing the Letter /K/

Andrew was absent on Friday so we waited to share until this morning.

Sirius and Andrew both brought back the Letter of the Week containers and SURPRISE..

...Andrew brought in a stuffed Hershey Kiss and an adorable kitten.

...Sirius brought in a set of keys. (I hope nobody was searching for those keys at home.)

If You're a Ghost
Tune: If You're Happy and You Know It

If you're a ghost and you know it,
Just say "BOO!"
If you're a ghost and you know it,
Just say "BOO!"

If you're a ghost and you know it,
And you really want to show it,
If you're a ghost and you know it,
Just say "BOO!"

/Kk/ Can Be Silent

We thought of /Kk/ words this morning. We talked a lot about the silent /Kk/.

Week 10 Poetry

Here We Go Round The Letter K
Tune: Mulberry Bush

Here we go round the letter K,
the letter K, the letter K.
Here we go round the letter K,
while we're here in school.

This is the way we like to kick...
This is the way to be kangaroos...
This is the way we turn our keys...

If You're a Ghost
Tune: If You're Happy and You Know It

If you're a ghost and you know it,
Just say "BOO!"
If you're a ghost and you know it,
Just say "BOO!"

If you're a ghost and you know it,
And you really want to show it,
If you're a ghost and you know it,
Just say "BOO!"

Jack-O-Lantern, Jack-O-Lantern!

/Jj/
Jack-o-lantern, Jack-o-lantern,
You are such a funny sight.
As you sit there by the window,
Looking out into the night.
You were once a sturdy pumpkin,
Growing on a curly vine.
Now you are a Jack-o-lantern,
See your night lights shine.

What Starts with /Jj/?

It took longer than usual and I needed to give more hints than usual but we made it to 60 words! /Jj/ is difficult.

After jam, jelly, Jessica, Justin, jack-o-lantern, and some other fairly common words; it was a lengthy process to get 60 :-)

Pumpkin
Pumpkin pumpkin big and round,
I'm glad you grow upon the ground.
I'm glad you don't grow in a tree
For then you might fall down on me.
