Number Neighbors

Today, we practiced working with the 100-chart in what I call Number Neighbors. The students received a 100-chart with missing numbers and we filled them in randomly. They did a great job!

Congratulations to our new Star Student, Lyla!

Congratulations, First Graders!

Opposites - Right and Left

Students matched their hands with the ones on their paper. We discussed that our pointer (index) finger and thumb create the letter /L/ on our left hand. Then we labeled the hands on our paper with an /L/ and an/R/.

They also incorporated pattern into our activity. They coloured the nails on each hand in a two different patterns. We also discussed the proper names for each of our fingers (pinkie, ring finger, thumb etc.)

Great Work!

The Terrific Tie Turkey

Our tie project is complete and, if I do say so myself, quite adorable. You can judge for yourself.

I need to thank Joshua, Trinity, Robert, Julien, Rhian, Desiree, Sammy, Gary, Bryce, Dhruv, and Lyla for the glorious ties we needed to make this turkey's terrific tail!

Tie Project

Are you wondering why I requested ties? Well, we have begun the tie project and it will be complete on Monday, just in time for Thanksgiving. Students cut out pieces of paper today and began to glue them together.

I won't tell you any more. It's a secret until Monday's unveiling.

Time for Kids - Sort It Out!

Today's issue of Time for Kids challenged the students to sort different creatures by colour, size, pattern, and species. Then they sorted coloured shapes in a Venn diagram.

Teacher Portrait

Yesterday, Sammy doddled a portrait of me. Looks just like me doesn't it? :-)
