It was Friday, so that meant SCIENCE! (I hear cheering!)

Today, we added to our weather knowledge and we also made up for an activity that we were supposed to do last Friday but there was no bright sun, and we definitely needed bright sun.

We stated with a container filled with 75% water. We created a "cloud" made of shaving cream.

We used blue food colouring to represent water droplets. We dropped the food colouring into the cloud one drop at a time. The food colouring stayed in the cloud until it was heavy enough and then it began to "rain." Water droplets do not fall to earth as soon as they are formed because they are not heavy enough. Once there is enough weight they fall from the clouds.

As more food colouring was added the heavier they got and the more it "rained."

The students received a worksheet to label the different parts of the science project.

We worked on the flipchart together.

And the students began working.

Their completed work was terrific!

Isaiah, Anthony, Dakota, and Nora
Tyler, Taniya, Liliana, Izabella, and J'Shawn
While the sun was shining brightly through the east facing classroom windows, I tried to show the students how to make a rainbow with a prism. The students chased the rainbows around as they were created.

There is ROY G. BIV!

We finished the day with a few stories from The Pelican Chorus.
