Plip, Plop, Drip, Drop

We continued our study of density and the temperature of water.

The students learned that cold water sinks and warm water rises. The cold water will sink to the bottom because it is "heavier" (more dense) than the warm water. The molecules in cold water are tighter compacted so it appears to be heavier. Warm water molecules expand and therefore seem "lighter."

Students were eager to answer questions about the experiment.
