Zero the Hero

Each 10th day of school we are going to discuss the way zero helps us in Mathematics. Today was technically not the 10th day because of the hurricane day but it could not be rescheduled. We watched the classic episode of School House Rocks - Zero My Hero. We counted by 10s and counted out 10 pompoms to glue on the shape-figure.

Xtra Math Achievement

Congratulations are in order!

Alexis earned a certificate for completing the addition portion in the XtraMath program. She mastered the addition table by answering all the problems correctly in less than 3 seconds. Alexis has added a new Brag Tag to her chain!

Mathematics Owls

Students working in Owl groups today for the first time. These small groups wok with me and are set up to make the most of a student's abilities, as well as, set high expectations for achievement.

This afternoon, Ty and I counted fish and connected the dots. In the beginning, Ty said that he didn't know how to do it, but working together, with smiles, Ty was able to complete 2 activities on ABCya.com.

Special Gift

Tropical Storm Isaac brought disappointment. Jessica wanted to come to school so that she could give me a wonderful gift of owls - an owl lunch bag, owl candle holder, and an owl picture she had coloured, not to mention the hugs.

We will light a candle tomorrow to try it out.

School Closed on Monday, August 27th

Due to Tropic Storm Isaac, Camelot School will be closed on Monday, August 27, 2012. Pinellas County School district announced district-wide closing on their website today.
