How Many Seeds?
We made a final count of all the pumpkin seeds that we collected from our pumpkin on Friday.
Each student had a bag containing 33 seeds. We have 15 students. There were 2 extra seeds, so we had a total of 497 seeds in our pumpkin!
Once we counted, the students ate the roasted seeds.
Cat, Cat, Cats!

Sharing Books
Desiree brought in a Halloween book for circle time. Thank you, Desiree. The class really enjoyed Spooky Wheels on the Bus.
Roasting Pumpkin Seeds
I prepared the seeds that the students removed from our pumpkin.
Toasted and salted, pumpkin seeds have a nutty flavor. And the students will get to taste these seeds on Monday.
Try this recipe at home:
- Rinse the pumpkin seeds under cold water and make certain to remove the pulp.
- Place the seeds in and bowl and toss with garlic, sea salt, and extra virgin olive oil
- Arrange the seeds on a backing sheet bake at 325 degrees until toasted, about 25 minutes.
- Store the left over seeds in an air-tight container.
Happy Box Time!
With the Happy Box filled with some new things and a few favourites; seven well deserving students earned the opportunity to choose a gift or two.
Carving a Pumpkin, but First....
...we set our supplies and read How Many Seeds in a Pumpkin? by Margaret McNamara.
We peeked inside.
We sat as nicely as we could.
We estimated how many seeds were inside.
And then we cleaned it out.
Then we carved a jack o'lantern. The students choice for the pumpkin was a vampire.
