Penguin Shuffle

Penguins shuffle, shuffle to the

Left, left, left

Penguins shuffle, shuffle to the

Right, right, right

Give a little wiggle

Give a little hop

Waddle around the iceberg

Never want to stop!

Weekly Poem

Miss Osberg and I were discussing this poem and how we have fond childhood memories of the words and the tune. I went searching for the original lyrics and the music.

I have been playing this song for the students for the last few days and even though it is far from Justin Bieber, they like it and have asked me to play it more than once.

Over the River (A Boy's Christmas)

Over the river, and through the wood,
to Grandfather's house we go;
the horse knows the way to carry the sleigh
through the white and drifted snow.
Over the river, and through the wood,
to Grandfather's house away!
We would not stop for doll or top,
for 'tis Thanksgiving Day.
Over the river, and through the wood-
oh, how the wind does blow!
It stings the toes and bites the nose,
as over the ground we go.
Over the river, and through the wood
and straight through the barnyard gate.
We seem to go extremely slow-
it is so hard to wait!
Over the river, and through the wood-
when Grandmother sees us come,
She will say, "o, dear, the children are here,
bring a pie for every one."
Over the river, and through the wood-
now Grandmothers cap I spy!
Hurrah for the fun! Is the pudding done?
Hurrah for the pumpkin pie!

Weekly Poem

Pilgrims

The Pilgrims came across the sea,
And never thought of you and me;
And yet it's very strange the way
We think of them Thanksgiving day.

We tell their story, old and true
Of how they sailed across the blue,
And found a new land to be free
And built their homes quite near the sea.

Every child knows well the tale
Of how they bravely turned the sail
And journeyed many a day and night,
To worship God as they thought right.

Star Student!

We have a new Star Student for the week!

Congratulations, Latia!

Field Day Fun!

We all had a fabulous time participating in Field Day!

The green team won 3rd place honours.

While the blue team earned a 2nd place finish.

And the 1st place award went to the red team.

The Letter is T!

Student came up with a number for terrific words that begin with /T/! Look for these books to come home Friday!

Proofing Word Wall Sentences

For the last 2 days, as a class, students have been creating sentences using word wall words. I then write them on the white board with mistakes. The students then find the errors.

Star Student!

This week our Star Student is Yasmin!

Monthly Poem

November

November comes
And November goes,
With the last red berries
And the first white snows.

With night coming early,
And dawn coming late,
And ice in the bucket
And frost by the gate.

The fires burn
And the kettles sing,
And the earth comes to rest
Until next spring.
